About the Job Position

The Communications Specialist performs core media and information duties for the department. The specialist assists in the writing of press releases, preparation of public statements, announcements, and maintains the presence of the government in communication channels. Working alongside senior staff, the specialist supports and ensures that all outgoing information is accurate, consistent, and meets the mission and image standards set by the government.

This includes writing and editing content for the public, monitoring ongoing media trends, supporting crisis communication efforts, and participating in planning campaigns or outreach initiatives. The Communications Specialist plays a critical role in helping the government communicate with the public by shaping every message to be clear, professional, and reliable.

We monitor and control press releases, media content, public announcements, online communications, and community outreach activities. Through partnerships with the government's departments and with members of the community, the Office of Communications bridges the gap that may exist between government functions and everyday life.

About the Salary & Paygroup

  • The current Communications Specialist wage is set at: $60,000 + bonuses.
  • A supportive, consolidated and dynamic team environment.
  • Communications Specialists are assigned to Paygrade V.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • The applicant must have attained the age of 21
  • The applicant must have a legal address in the State of San Andreas
  • The applicant may not have been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor
  • The applicant must possess a current driving license and a reasonable driving record

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • A College or Bachelor's Degree that was supplemented by any of the following fields: journalism, photography, videography.
  • An equivalent level gained through work experience may be considered.
  • The applicant ideally has past experience working on a media coverage team.
  • Experience with any graphics design program is considered a bonus.

Key Skills and Abilities

  • You must be able to demonstrate an understanding of present-day social media and implications of negative press relations.
  • You must display strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • You must show the ability to effectively engage in social media activities, including video sharing and blogging to promote the City.
  • You exhibit superior critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Your organizational abilities enable you to be highly detail-oriented.
