About the Job Position

The Department of Health and Welfare is seeking a qualified and motivated professional to serve as Deputy Director of Health and Welfare. This senior management role supports the Director in overseeing departmental operations and ensures continuity, efficiency, and effectiveness across all service areas.

The Deputy Director assists with policy implementation, operational management, and interdepartmental coordination, while providing leadership support to bureau supervisors and frontline staff. This position plays a critical role in translating departmental strategy into day-to-day execution.

Applicants are expected to:

  • Support the Director of Health and Welfare by executing strategic directives and assuming direct operational oversight and workload responsibilities as required to ensure continuity of departmental operations.
  • Oversee day-to-day performance of the Department’s bureaus and ensure operational standards are met.
  • Support policy development, implementation, and procedural compliance.
  • Coordinate with partner agencies, including LSPD, PHMC, and SADCR as required.
  • Review reports, case trends, and performance data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Act on behalf of the Director when delegated, including attending meetings and briefings.
  • Support staff development, supervision, and internal accountability processes.

About the Department

The Department of Health and Welfare serves as the City of Los Santos’ primary safety net. Its mission is to empower vulnerable populations, protect public well-being, and ensure access to essential social services. The Department operates through three specialized bureaus:

  • Youth Welfare Bureau – Focused on child protection, abuse investigations, adoption oversight, and educational support.
  • Community Development Bureau – Focused on affordable housing initiatives, Veterans Affairs, elderly services, and community partnerships.
  • Homeless Outreach Bureau – Focused on shelter operations, outreach efforts, and reintegration support in coordination with SADCR. 

The Director of Health and Welfare is responsible for ensuring these bureaus operate cohesively and effectively in the service of the City’s residents.

About the Salary & Paygroup

  • The current Deputy Director of Health & Welfare wage is set at: $95,000 + bonuses.
  • A supportive, consolidated and dynamic team environment.
  • Department / Office Deputy Directors are assigned to Paygrade XII.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • The applicant must have attained the age of 28
  • The applicant must have a legal address in the State of San Andreas
  • The applicant may not have been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor
  • The applicant must possess a current driving license and a reasonable driving record

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in social services or public-sector management.
  • Strong understanding of departmental procedures, case management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing operational workflows.
