Paleto Bay Sawmill

General Information

The investment in to the Paleto Bay Sawmill by the government is a testament to the area's industrial heritage meeting modern needs, this project aims to revitalize the existing milling infrastructure while applying valuable environmental and sustainable practices. We're blending economic growth for a community that needs it with a commitment to preserving the pristine environment that residents of Paleto Bay have come to know and love. The sawmill has become a modern facility that produces much-needed timber for the local construction industry while supplying surrounding areas with solid jobs, boosting the economy of Paleto Bay..

A significant focus in line with our 2030 Agenda's sustainable development goals is environmental stewardship. By incorporating advanced forestry practices and machinery we can ensure minimal ecological disruption. For every tree harvested by the sawmill, three trees are planted which among other methods maintains the very delicate forest ecosystem. Another key area in making sure we are ecologically ethical is reducing waste, byproducts such as wood chips and sawdust are used for alternatives like biomass energy and mulch production. The sawmill sets the standard for responsible resource management in the area.

The economic impact that this project stands to make is undeniable, creating numerous skilled jobs to produce material that requries transportation logistics to move, and empowering suppliers, contractors, and local businesses. We also preserve the rich history and identity of Paleto Bay by creating a bridge between the past and future, taking an old sawmill and enhancing it with modern developments.

A significant amount of effort has been put in place to ensure operations run like clockwork.

Meet Director Reddick

I began my career in the mill trade up in Humboldt County, working long shifts in one of the region's toughest and biggest sawmills. Over time, he worked his way up from the bottom, earning every promotion from millworker to supervisor through grit, reliability and a deep understanding of the work. When the opportunity came to take on a leadership role, I applied and was appointed as the Sawmill’s Operations Director.

Today, I brings the same blue-collar mentality to mu leadership style; practical, direct, worker centered and grounded in real experience. I prioritize site safety, reliable employment, and making sure operations run clean and tight. My focus moving forward is on workforce stability, expanded output and maintaining the standards the Paleto Sawmill stands for. With years of hands on experience and the respect of the team behind me, I leads by example and expect the same from those around me.
