Office of The Mayor

The Mayor is the head of City government and serves a two-year term.  The Mayor, more than any other City official, is held responsible for the conduct of City affairs.  As the executive officer of the City, the Mayor submits proposals and recommendations to the Council, approves or vetoes ordinances passed by the Council, and enforces the City’s ordinances.

The Mayor recommends and submits quarterly budgets and passes appropriations and transfers; appoints, and may remove, certain City officials and commissioners; secures cooperation among the departments of the City; receives and examines complaints made against officers and employees; and coordinates visits of foreign and domestic dignitaries with public and private organizations

Among all this, the Mayor is responsible for actively promoting transparency and forging a strong connection with the community by regularly engaging with residents, listening to their concerns, and providing accessible information about city initiatives and decisions, thus creating an environment of trust and open dialogue in local governance.

Mayor Hank Preston

Hank Preston is the 43rd Mayor of Los Santos, elected on September 9th, 2023, and sworn in the following day at City Hall. His career began over thirty years ago, at the Port of Los Santos as a forklift and crane operator, before finding his place as Director of Port Authority, and eventually the Mayor of Los Santos.

"As your mayor, I will work for you, and I will work with you by making sure the city's agenda and my administration truly reflects the full scope and will of the people of Los Santos. Only together, can we get things done — from equitable job opportunities to transparency and approachability. Before now, our city lacked any sense of direction from previous leaders."

Deputy Mayor Frederick Coleman

As the first black Deputy Mayor of Los Santos, Coleman has put a focus on diversity and holding the Government to account; his past expertise as the Deputy Mayor for Liberty City and a private career in the technology sector puts him in an extraordinary position to implement a vast reform of government platforms and usher in a new age of transparency.

"I aim to work by Mayor Preston's side in facilitating a digital infrastructure and helping our underprivileged. Regardless of which way you voted, we are here to serve you and bring this city a real direction, we are poised to bring about real change that allows the City of Los Santos, and it's citizens - to prosper. Believe in a better Los Santos."
