Junior Technician

ABOUT THE JOB POSITION

Public Works Junior Technician; Constructs, maintains, and repairs streets, roadways, drainage systems, storm sewers, water/wastewater lines and other facilities. Removes debris and blockages from streets and roadways. Operates equipment and vehicles. Establishes traffic safety zones while working. Will undergo mandatory mechanic training for fleet maintenance. This covers other Departments too, which will be requested via the Departmental Radio. Other maintenance tasks like car washing, refueling, etc will be expected also. Replaces existing meters and installs meters on new accounts. Handles impoundments for other agencies. Removes graffiti and maintains city owned facilities. Clears trees and cuts grass as necessary. Performs vegetation management and landscaping work, street repairs, concrete repairs, and utility repairs. Performs leaf, snow, and ice removal. Addresses public inquiries. Other duties as assigned, such as engaging in mechanic work for other agencies post-training provided by experienced head mechanics, demonstrating a commitment to expanding skills and contributing to broader organizational goals.

In times of crisis the department responds to, and aids in recovery from, earthquakes, storms, and other emergencies as an integral part of providing and managing public works services. Without public works, our city would submerge in darkness. Without public works, our roads would become impassable. Without public works, our faucets would run dry. Public works may not always enjoy the limelight, but its existence is unmistakably important.

ABOUT THE SALARY & PAYGROUP

Junior Technicians get a $45,000 salary. There may be bonuses awarded on large-scale tasks and work at the discretion of the director.

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • The applicant must have attained the age of 18.
  • The applicant must have a legal address in the State of San Andreas.
  • The applicant may not have been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor.
  • The applicant must possess a current driving license and a reasonable driving record.
  • ((Must have a minimum of 40 hours within GTAW on any character)).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma (or equivalent) and 1 to less than 3 years directly related experience.
  • No previous work experience is required. The applicant receives on-the-job training.
  • The applicant is expected to be in good physical condition and have the ability to carry out manual labour.
